Most of our installations are in existing homes and
workplaces. We take the utmost care to protect your property during
the installation of your new skylight. Our team of installation technicians
are thoroughly trained in all aspects of the trade which include framing,
flashing, insulating, electrical, drywall and painting.
We also
offer a wide range of operable skylights in areas where ventilation
is a concern. Operable skylights can be opened manually, electrically
or by remote control, depending on accessibility and budget. We also
specialize in manual, electric and remote-controlled sun shading in
a variety of styles and sizes to fit any skylight.
NO DUST ! Over the years we have developed and refined an exclusive method of cutting an opening and installing skylights with virtually
no dust or mess. Much of the work is done on the roof, from the outside in.
QUICK

all we do. We work quickly and efficiently, with the least amount of disruption
to your home or business.
Installation of a New Skylight
When having a skylight installed it is very important to get the right product for the application.
The very best way to make sure this happens is to select an experienced skylight installation company
and let them make the selection of the brand and the model that best suits your application.
We have found,
through our vast experience, that no single manufacturer has a reliable skylight for all applications.
Beware of manufacturer sponsored "preferred installer" programs, as most of these programs consist of only a few
hours of instructions given in a warehouse. These programs are designed to sell particular skylight brands
and are anything but comprehensive. The range of experience required to become a competent skylight installation
technician cannot be extracted from a one or two day seminar.
It takes years of practical on-site experience to gain
knowledge of local building codes, safety training, setup procedures and many other important factors that ensure you
get the best installation possible.
An experienced skylight installer will know the right size of skylight to install and the correct placement of the skylight to deliver the best light distribution to the space below. Interior aesthetic appeal and roof line profile must also be considered. They will be familiar
with and adhere to local building codes to ensure the structural integrity of roof is maintained.
Other important factors that should be
accounted for by the installer are insulation, humidity, alternate lighting, ventilation, safety and dust control during the installation process.
Shading options should also be discussed where heat gain is an issue or where the amount of light entering needs to be controlled (such as a bedroom).

Finding an Installer
When selecting a contractor to install your new skylight here are a few things to ensure a smooth job
1. Get references for skylight installations done at least 5 years ago and check them.
2. Get a detailed written quotation and proceed only with a written contract.
3. Ask for proof of WSIB (Workman's compensation insurance) coverage and proof of liability insurance. Do not proceed unless provided with
these documents.
4. When a skylight is installed there is in most cases electrical work involved (rerouting wires running
through the space or relocation of lighting fixtures/installation of pot lights). Permits and inspections are now
a requirement for all electrical work. Protect your family by ensuring that your skylight installer uses an ESA approved electrician.
5. Ask the contractor to provide detailed photos of the framing and waterproofing work. Depending on the size and location of the
skylight, a building permit may be required.

Downtown Toronto
We designed and installed this skylight over a small courtyard at
a condominium complex in downtown Toronto. It consists of an A-frame
structure built to accommodate eight standard size skylights. The owner
still enjoys the open feeling of the courtyard and gets plenty of fresh
air through the electrically venting remote-controlled skylights. These
skylights have a rain sensor that will close the skylights automatically if
it rains. The flashing system is a custom-made set of interlocking
metal panels and rubberized waterproofing materials. We handled
all aspects of the work including the framing, roofing, electrical
and drywall finishing. |

4. Installation of the second layer of waterproofing
membrane. Both membranes are heat welded to the existing roof membrane

5. The new skylight completely installed from an exterior
point of view
