FAQ: What sizes do Sun Tunnels come in? *14-inch diameter fits between 16" on center.
The dome, flashing, flexible tunnel, hardware and everything needed for a complete roof-to-ceiling installation (including step-by-step instructions) are all included. There are no tools included in the kit.
Each unit comes standard with six feet of flexible tunnel. If you need more, please contact your dealer. Maximum recommended tunnel length for 014 size is 10' and for 022 size is 12'. Taping tunnel lengths together is not recommended.
The flexible tunnel is a double layer of metalized polyester
film with a double inner layer of reinforced aluminum Sola-film with a
highly reflective ultraviolet-proof laminate. The dome is made of UV Stabilized
Grade-One Acrylic. By improving upon the flexible tube technology used
for years in the heating and air conditioning industries, we've created
a way of bending sunlight around attic obstructions and the most cost
and energy efficient skylight system available in the United States.
The Sun Tunnel comes with a seven year warranty.
Model TSF is designed for shingle or shake roofs with pitches from 15° to 60°. Tile roofs require Model TTF, which can be special ordered through your dealer.
A precise answer depends on many factors including the roof orientation (i.e. South is always best), tunnel length, tunnel angles, time of day, season of the year, etc. However, generally the 14-inch diameter is best for lighting up bathrooms, halls, walk-in closets and areas up to 10' x 10'. The 22-inch diameter Sun Tunnel is perfect for lighting any type of room up to 15' x 15'.
The flexible tunnel is the simplest and fastest way to install tubular devices available It easily bends around attic obstructions like pipes and wires making alignment between the roof and ceiling simple. Every Sun Tunnel comes with six feet of flexible tunnel. Additional tunnel, if you need it, is available by calling your dealer.
Yes! Thorough testing indicates that there is no appreciable heat gain or loss with the Sun Tunnel.
Winter time means that lots of us get stuck indoors at home and work. Studies show that natural, full-spectrum sunlight greatly contributes to increased productivity in the workplace and to an overall feeling of well-being. Sunlight deprivation can lead to a condition that experts call "Seasonal Affective Disorder," also known as the winter blahs. By bringing the sun into your house, or home office, a Sun Tunnel can help you beat the winter blahs.
One of the key components in The Sun Tunnel system is
its flexible, reflective tunnel. This tunnel is similar in structural
design to the tubing used for many decades in the heating and air conditioning
industry and can be found in commercial businesses, high-rise buildings,
hospitals, schools, and residential homes throughout North America and
many other parts of the world. The ability to flex around almost any attic obstruction without the need for elbows or extensions means that Sun Tunnels can be efficiently and economically installed in places no other tubular product can reach. Naturally, the shorter, tighter and straighter you install the tunnel, the better the performance, but Sun Tunnels are installed every week in hard-to-reach areas, sometimes with 90-degree bends in the tunnel, and are still performing well. The 22" diameter Sun Tunnel is the largest on the
market today and will brighten even the largest rooms in your home. Just
like the tunnel used in our other models, our 22" flexible tunnel
passes all ignition, flammability and smoke density testing requirements
necessary to meet National Building Codes standards across the United
States. |
